INF Will Moore (Paris, Ont.) hit a walkoff single to lead Indiana to a 7-6 Game 1 win over Maryland. Then, in Game 3 he went 3-for-4 with two walks and a RBI as the Hoosiers took the game 15-5 and the series 2-1. Moore was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week.
INF Brendan Lawson (Toronto, Ont.) totalled seven hits, including three straight two-hit games in a series win over Mississippi State, to finish with a .412 average. He also drove in five. For the second time this season, Lawson was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
RHP Kurt Barr (Saint Joachim, Ont.) tossed seven innings for the University of Michigan in Game 2 of their series against Iowa. The right-hander allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits. He struck out eight in the eventual 3-2 loss.
Morehead State OF JJ Dutton (Toronto, Ont.) chipped in 11 hits, two walks and four RBI in four games. To open the week, he went 5-for-5 with a single, double, triple and a RBI in a 10-5 win over Austin Peay. In the finale, a 13-9 loss to the University of Tennessee at Martin, he had four hits, two RBI and was hit by a pitch.
LHP Antoine Jean (Montreal, Que.) worked five innings of relief and picked up the win in Houston’s 7-4 victory over Oklahoma State. He surrendered a run on a hit and a walk with eight strikeouts.
