April ended and May began with plenty of highlights from Canadians across Division I college baseball
It’s time to recap the best Canadian Division I performances from the past week.
Here we go.
OF Keegan O’Hearn (Oshawa, Ont.) belted his first two college home runs, both two-run shots, as Michigan scored 47 runs in a three-game sweep of rival Ohio State.
RHP Blake Gillespie (Lucan, Ont.) eclipsed the 100-strikeout mark with six over eight innings in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s 2-0 Game 1 loss to Rice. The right-hander allowed two runs on four hits. He now has 105 punch outs on the season.
RHP Jack Pineau (Thunder Bay, Ont.) surrendered one run over six innings of work to help Creighton to a 13-1 Game 2 victory over Butler. He yielded four hits, walked two and struck out eight.
Florida INF Brendan Lawson (Toronto, Ont.) belted a grand slam en route to a five hit, two walk and seven RBI series against South Carolina. The Gators left Columbia with a three-game sweep.
RHP Levi Abbott (Lethbridge, Alta.) picked up the win in relief in Cansius’ 7-4 Game 3 victory against Siena. He gave up one run on two hits and struck out five over five innings.
